Key performance indicator: Homeownership affordability index
Tracks the cost of entry-level homeownership in relation to local wages. Higher values on the chart represent higher wages relative to for-sale housing costs and indicate greater affordability.
Target zone: An index value of zero or higher, meaning an average job pays at least enough to afford an entry-level home.

Key performance indicator: Homeownership rates, disaggregated by race/ethnicity
Target zone: A homeownership rate of 65% or higher.
We track housing affordability by comparing the cost of an entry-level home to the local average wage. By this measure, for-sale housing affordability in Kent County is at an all-time low.
